Google Launches Generative AI Performance Reports in Search Console

Google is continuing its AI-first transformation of search. As AI-powered search experiences become more common, website owners, publishers, and SEO professionals need better ways to understand how their content performs. To support this shift, Google has introduced Generative AI Performance Reports in Google Search Console.

These new reports provide deeper insights into how content appears within AI-powered search experiences such as AI Overviews and AI Mode. They help businesses measure visibility, understand user interactions, and make smarter SEO decisions in an increasingly AI-driven search landscape.

The introduction of Generative AI Performance Reports is a major step toward transparency in AI search. Website owners can now see how often their content appears in AI-generated results and identify opportunities to improve performance.

What Are Generative AI Performance Reports?

Generative AI Performance Reports are a new set of reporting features within Google Search Console that show how content performs inside Google's AI-powered search experiences.

Unlike traditional Search Console reports that focus primarily on standard search results, these reports specifically track visibility within AI-generated responses and summaries.

The goal is to help website owners understand:

  • How often their content appears in AI search experiences
  • Which pages are being surfaced
  • Where users are engaging with AI-generated content
  • How AI visibility changes over time

As AI continues to influence search behavior, these reports provide essential insights for modern SEO strategies.

Why Google Introduced These Reports

Google Search is evolving beyond traditional blue links. AI-powered experiences now generate summaries, recommendations, and direct answers for users.

As a result, businesses need visibility into how their content contributes to these AI experiences.

The new Generative AI Performance Reports help answer important questions such as:

  • Is my content appearing in AI Overviews?
  • Which pages are receiving AI visibility?
  • How much exposure am I getting through AI search?
  • Which audiences are engaging with my content?

These insights help businesses adapt their SEO and content marketing strategies to the future of search.
